It can also be transmitted through sexual contact, blood transfusions, and from mother to fetus during pregnancy. The disease is usually mild but poses serious risks to unborn babies, causing birth defects like microcephaly. Symptoms: Fever, rash, joint pain, and red eyes (conjunctivitis), Muscle pain, headache, and general fatigue, in pregnant women, Zika can cause severe fetal brain defects. Doctors diagnose Zika using blood or urine tests. There is no specific treatment; management includes fluids, rest, and pain relievers (acetaminophen).
