Chaplaincy Services

Consistent with the AIC Kijabe Hospital's Vision and Mission Statements and the unwavering desire and subsequent efforts to provide quality health care, the Spiritual Affairs Department recognizes that each patient has a right to receive holistic and comprehensive care that embraces their physical, psycho-spiritual, emotional, and social needs. We believe that both the physical and spiritual dimensions are interdependent in the patient's life and environment, whether in health and wholeness or in crisis and illness.

At AIC Kijabe Hospital, we endeavour to utilize spiritual ministry as a resource that is meaningful to the patient, relatives, and friends and assist them in dealing with life issues related to illness and hospitalization.

Chaplains are available 24/7; during regular business hours and on-call at specific times and offer services that focus on:

1. Supporting patients and families spiritually and emotionally during illness.
2. Complementing the ministry of patients' spiritual leaders.
3. Consulting and supporting hospital staff.
4. Providing spiritual leadership for the hospital community.
5. Encouraging faith and evangelism.
6. Collaborating with churches and church organizations to extend outreach.

Services Provided:

• Daily ward rounds/visits
• Wednesday Chapel service for Staff
• Sunday Chapel Service for staff, patients, friends, and relatives (11:00am – 12:30pm)
• Spiritual needs assessment
• Counselling and crisis intervention
• Prayer and sacraments
• Bereavement support
• Ethical and end-of-life guidance
• Referral to faith communities
• Pastoral Care to staff and patients
• Spiritual care resources
• A prayer room that is available 24/7 (in Chapel)

Chaplains serve as pastoral care specialists, offering hope and comfort to all who seek their support.
