Eczema (Atopic Dermatitis)
Description
Eczema is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that causes red, itchy, dry, and cracked skin. It is linked to genetic and immune system factors and is often triggered by allergens, stress, irritants, or climate changes. Symptoms include intense itching, rash formation (especially on the face, hands, elbows, and knees), skin thickening, and oozing blisters. Scratching worsens symptoms and increases the risk of infections. There is no cure, but treatments focus on moisturizing the skin, using anti-inflammatory creams (like corticosteroids), antihistamines, and avoiding triggers. Severe cases may require immune-modulating medications. Eczema can be managed with proper skincare routines and lifestyle adjustments.
