Bacterial Vaginosis
Description
Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a common vaginal infection caused by an imbalance in the bacteria normally present in the vagina. This imbalance leads to an overgrowth of harmful bacteria, resulting in symptoms like vaginal discharge, odor, and itching. BV is not typically considered a sexually transmitted infection but can be influenced by sexual activity, douching, or antibiotic use. Treatment typically involves antibiotics, either in oral or topical form, to restore the normal balance of vaginal bacteria.
