Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)
Description
Chronic kidney disease is a long-term condition where the kidneys progressively lose their ability to filter waste and excess fluid from the blood. This can lead to kidney failure if not managed properly. The most common causes of CKD are diabetes and high blood pressure. Early stages of CKD may have few symptoms, but over time, it can cause fatigue, swelling, and changes in urination. Treatment focuses on controlling underlying conditions, medications to manage symptoms, and, in advanced stages, dialysis or kidney transplantation.
