Gallbladder Disease

Description

Gallbladder disease refers to any condition affecting the gallbladder, a small organ beneath the liver that stores bile. The most common gallbladder diseases include gallstones, cholecystitis (inflammation of the gallbladder), and gallbladder cancer. Gallstones are hardened deposits of bile that can block the flow of bile, leading to pain, nausea, and vomiting. Cholecystitis occurs when the gallbladder becomes inflamed, often due to an infection. In some cases, the gallbladder may need to be removed through surgery if the symptoms are severe or complications arise. The risk factors for gallbladder disease include obesity, a high-fat diet, pregnancy, and a family history of the condition. Symptoms include right upper abdominal pain, fever, and digestive problems.
