Zygomatic Fracture
Description
A zygomatic fracture refers to a break or crack in the zygomatic bone, commonly known as the cheekbone. It is typically caused by trauma to the face, such as from car accidents, sports injuries, or physical assaults. Symptoms may include swelling, bruising, difficulty opening the mouth, and numbness in the cheek or upper lip. In more severe cases, it can affect vision or cause misalignment of the teeth. Treatment often involves pain management, ice packs, and sometimes surgery to realign the bone, depending on the severity of the fracture.
