Glenohumeral Arthritis
Description
Glenohumeral arthritis is a type of osteoarthritis that affects the shoulder joint. The glenohumeral joint, where the upper arm bone (humerus) meets the shoulder blade (scapula), can wear down over time due to aging, injury, or overuse, leading to pain, stiffness, and decreased range of motion. This condition is more common in older adults and athletes who have repeatedly used their shoulders. Symptoms include pain in the shoulder, especially with movement, swelling, and difficulty lifting the arm. Treatment options may include physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medications, and, in severe cases, shoulder replacement surgery.
