Bubonic Plague
Description
The bubonic plague is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Yersinia pestis, often spread by fleas that infest rodents. The disease is known for causing rapid onset of symptoms like fever, chills, swollen and painful lymph nodes (buboes), and fatigue. It can progress to septicemic or pneumonic plague, which are more deadly. The plague was responsible for several pandemics, including the Black Death in the 14th century. Today, it can be treated with antibiotics, though early diagnosis is crucial.
