It can occur in various forms, including trigeminal neuralgia (face pain), postherpetic neuralgia (from shingles), and occipital neuralgia (head and neck pain). Symptoms include: Sudden, severe, burning or electric-shock-like pain, Pain triggered by touch, chewing, or even wind exposure, and Episodes lasting seconds to minutes, recurring frequently. Diagnosis involves neurological exams, imaging (MRI/CT), and nerve conduction studies. Treatment includes anticonvulsant drugs (carbamazepine, gabapentin), antidepressants, nerve blocks, and in severe cases, surgery to relieve nerve compression.
