The department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Kijabe Hospital takes care of women during pregnancy and childbirth and continues to follow up on the mother and child even after delivery. The department believes in treating women with respect, dignity and compassion and strives to provide them with excellent clinical care. Women and their families are encouraged to discuss freely any concerns regarding their care with their clinicians.
It accepts and provides services to all NHIF cardholders amongst other insurance companies. OB/GYN conducts normal deliveries and cesarean sections any time of the day, every day of the week. The hospital has an excellent radiology department and neonatal unit that enable OB/GYN to take care of high-risk patients including premature infants.
The gynecology department provides screening and follows up on gynecological conditions that need attention. It also performs elective and emergency surgeries as needed. Some of the conditions it manages include treatment of fibroids, screening for and treatment of cervical cancer, fistula surgery, infertility, laparoscopy, hysteroscopy and pelvic floor surgery.
OB/GYN provides training opportunity for residents and conducts clinical research aimed at improving patient care and health outcomes in resource limited settings.
