Senior Management Team

The hospital has 47 Department Managers and Section heads that are qualified and experienced in their individual fields. Senior Management is comprised of the following individuals, each of whom has a wealth of experience and extensive training in their respective fields.

Executive Director: Dr. Mary Muchendu is a registered nurse with 34 years of experience in hospital contexts.  She is passionate about education of healthcare workers and nursing with an inclination to maternal health and child welfare.  She also is a champion of compassionate healthcare to the needy and vulnerable.

Dr. Muchendu has long been at the forefront of nursing education and training of nurses in Kenya and development of nursing curriculum. Kenya registered community health nursing (KRCHN) and Kenya registered nurse anaesthesia (KRNA) have both been launched and picking up countrywide from Kijabe.

Dr. Muchendu holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Vanderbilt University, USA, and began serving as Executive Director of AIC Kijabe Hospital in 2010.

Medical Director: Dr. Rich Davis is a general surgeon from the U.S. who has served at AIC Kijabe for 10 years.  Dr. Davis trained at Creighton and has recently served as the program director for the Pan African Academy of Christian Surgeons residency program at Kijabe.  Dr. Davis began serving as the Medical Director in Kijabe Hospital in October 2016.

Director of Education and Research: Dr. Evelyn Mbugua oversees the training of Doctors through residency and Internship programs. This department also promotes and monitors research in the hospital. Dr. Mbugua is an Internal Medicine consultant who performed her medical officer internship at Kijabe hospital in 2005, served as clinical lead for AIDS services, then completed internal medicine residency at Aga Khan and returned to Kijabe to serve as consultant and department head in 2012.

Kijabe College of Health Sciences Principal: Dr. Peris Kariuki runs the Kenya registered Community health Nursing basic diploma program, Kenya  clinical medicine and surgery basic diploma program, Higher diploma in Kenya registered Nurse Anaesthesia program and Higher diploma in Kenya registered Peri-operative nursing program.  Dr. Kariuki has over 10 years experience in nursing education programs. She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Masters of Science in nursing from Vanderbilt University and completed her doctorate from the same University in 2015.

Director of Nursing: Mrs. Grace Maina is Nursing Director at AIC Kijabe Hospital and has almost 25 years of nursing and management experience. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Nursing and is currently undertaking a Masters Degree in Project Planning and Management at the University of Nairobi.

Director of Finance: Mr. Samuel Mwaura is Head of Finance at AIC Kijabe Hospital.  He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Master of Science in MIS as well as a Bachelor of Commerce degree in accounting.  He has over of 12 years of experience in general administration, finance and ICT management in manufacturing, insurance and health sectors.

Director of Human Resources: Mr. Charles Thiongo Ngunjiri has 8 years of Human Resources Management experience in the Hotel industry and faith-Based institutions.  He holds a Masters of Arts in Human Resources Management with a background in commerce.

Director of Chaplaincy: Reverend Geoffrey Kyalo Ndivo has seventeen years of experience in pastoral work and Bible teaching. He worked with Egerton University as a Pastor for five years; as the administrative secretary for Njoro District church Council for six years, as Campus Coordinator for Scott Christian University (Nakuru Campus) and most recently as chaplain with Beacon of Hope Ongata-rongai. He holds a degree in Theology from Scott Christian University. He is married with one child.

Director of Engineering and Facilities: Mr. Shammah Munyoki holds a BSC in civil Engineering and an MA in Project Planning and Management.  Mr. Munyoki is a registered Professional Engineer with Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK), Corporate Member of Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) and a Member of Kenya Association of Project Managers (KAPM).

She is a registered nurse with 23 years of management in the Health Care field with specific experience in running mission hospitals.  She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Vanderbilt University, USA, and began serving as Executive Director in 2010.

Joshua Tonui

Mr. Joshua Tonui is Executive Director of AIC Health Ministries and holds a diploma in Theology as well as a Higher Diploma in health Management from South bank University, in London.

Justus

Mr. Justus Marete is the Bethany Kids Africa Director and has worked in the health sector for over two decades.  He holds a Masters of Public Health from Boston University.

Mr. Peter Kyalo holds an MBA in Business Administration and is the Executive Director at AIC CURE Hospital, in Kijabe.  He is also a member of the following KH committees; Human Resources, Audit/Risk, Finance and Centennial.

Mrs. Mary Njenga is also chairperson of the KH human resources sub-committee and a member of KH Audit/Risk committee.  She holds a Masters of Science in Organizational Development and is currently pursuing her PhD in Leadership and Change Management.

Mrs. Mercy Kuriah has worked in various Government Ministries for over 25 years and she is currently working with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, in Supply Chain Management.
