KIJABE COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES (KCHS)

A.I.C Kijabe College of Health Sciences is a Christian based middle level training institution. The college is one of the departments of AI C Kijabe Hospital. The College was founded in 1980, where the first trainees were enrolled in enrolled community health nurses, at certificate level under the then Kijabe School of nursing (KSN). Since then, the college has expanded and has trained over 1,200 highly qualified professionals who are functioning both locally and internationally. By the year 2000, the college made a major leap by upgrading the certificate level programme to diploma curriculum. This was an upgrading programme which was training certificate nurses to diploma. In 2004, basic training (KRCHN) was started.

The College continued to travel advancement path and in the year 2006 a curriculum was developed for an Advanced Diploma in Nursing Anaesthesia (KRNA). This was the first programme of its kind in Kenya. Other curriculums that have been developed for higher diplomas in nursing include higher diploma in Perioperative Nursing and Critical Care Nursing.

Nursing education is accredited by the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) and the Clinical Officers education is accredited by the Clinical Officers Council (COC).

A diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery program was accredited by COC in the year 2015 and the fist class admitted in September 2015 while the curriculum for the higher diploma in Emergency and Critical Care for Clinical Officers was accredited in early 2017.
